	Medical Malpractice Defense A local obstetrician's personal assets were at stake when he was recently sued by a notoriously aggressive and prominent medical malpractice attorney relating to his performance of a C-section, which led to the delivery of a profoundly mentally retarded baby girl. He sought recommendations from his colleagues as to defense counsel and then interviewed 4 attorneys on the panel of outside counsel utilized by his malpractice carrier. He chose Chuck Lohrfink to represent him in the case. The case was tried to conclusion and resulted in a verdict in favor of the defendant obstetrician. The amount asked of the jury was in excess of $12 million.
	Design Defect Defense A nationally well-known manufacturer of power tools turned to VLMC to defend its interests when it was recently sued, in an alleged design defect case in federal court in New York, by a local minister who lost all four fingers on his left hand in a power saw accident. As of April 2005, the case is currently pending in federal court in White Plains with Joe Failla and Steve Riebling defending the case.
	Underage Drinking Results In Death of Teenager The recent death of a 17 year old young man as the result of an altercation during a party involving underage drinking at the home of a well-to-do family while the parents were away received extensive print and broadcast media coverage that fueled a national debate over the issue of teenage drinking and personal responsibility. VLMC was retained to represent the interests of a teenager who attended the party and his family, concerning his role in an alleged cover-up of the incident and failure to call 911 to summon timely medical attention for the decedent. The case was successfully resolved in favor of our clients.
